Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Route to Fly from San Diego

Going down to Mexico can be an exhilarating experience that not many private pilots get to have. Be sure to be familiar with the rules and regulations of flying into and out of Mexico. You can find this information in our Mexico section of the website. This is quite the trip as the distance is long and you may need to stop for fuel. Take off, following the rules cross Tijuana at midfield and follow any instructions given to you. From there you can either fly on the west or east side of Baja. However, if you are going to need to stop for fuel, there are not any options on the west side. On the east side, Loreto is recommended; Alaska Airlines even flies into this small town. This is an airport of entry as well, so be sure to fill out all the proper-paper work. From there, Cabo is just a short flight down the coast.

Enjoy the beauty of the countless bays and rustic fishing villages, and if you are flying down at the right time of year, you can see the whales giving birth in the Sea of Cortez. You will also fly over Bahia de los Suenos, one of Baja’s premier resort and master-planned communities, which is a must stay.

What to Do?

Upon landing, if you did not stop in Loreto and fill out the proper paper-work, you must go through customs here in Cabo. You can reference our flying to Mexico handbook in order to make sure that you have gone through the proper procedures. After that, you can take a shuttle or a taxi to wherever your heart desires. You’re in Cabo now so its time to sit back and relax. You became the master of the air when you got your pilot’s license; now it’s time to conquer the ocean. With Manta Custom Scuba, you can not only enjoy the breath-taking views that the Sea of Cortez has to offer, but you can get certified as well! Just be sure to be safe and wait the allotted time before you go flying.

Want to stay above water? Well, then you can have a blast with Pisces Sportfishing. With an experienced crew, a fleet of various boats and numerous awards for excellence, you will not be disappointed. Cabo is world renowned for its sport fishing. With all kinds of record breaking game fish, this will truly be a memorable experience!

Want to just hang out on the beach? Well, with various beaches to choose from – each one being unique in its own right – you will be surprised at their beauty and seclusion.

Places to Stay at Night

We don’t have to tell you about Cabo’s hotels; they are world class. However, many of them over priced. But the Pueblo Bonito is able to mix beauty, service and price into the perfect package. Being a beach-front hotel, with a full range of services and prime location in relation, to the city you will be glad you stayed here.

Where to Eat

Just like the hotels, there are many choices here in this resort town. Here are just a few examples of what is awaiting you.

Edith’s takes a combination of the many influences that formed Baja and what it is today to form their seafood based menu. With a fun atmosphere, boasting indoor and outdoor dining, Edith’s will show you why this is such a favorite spot.

Looking for a more elegant dining experience? The Agua at the One&Only serves a “Mexiterranean” style menu. Combine that with outdoor dining, overlooking the Sea of Cortez, and you will have the perfect romantic dinner. You can make reservations online to ensure you have a worry-free experience.

Looking for a truly unique dining experience? Try the Chef’s Table! This relatively new restaurant has already drawn great reviews and has a choice of two menus: fine and casual dining. With mariachi music in the evenings, great food and attentive service the Chef’s Table is pleasant experience.
